I was thrilled when I was picked to be one of the entrants into the Spring Fever Challenge organised by Lesley Watt of Thea Elements, Caroline Dewison of Blueberribeads and Claire of Smitten Beads.
First off I took the ceramic focal by Lesley and made some matching glass beads. Then I took the smaller bird by Bluberribeads and added a little bit of patina so that it matched the focal a little I also hand painted the clasp with patina. I used some scrummy Czech glass from Smitten beads and some glass chips that had been sitting in my stash for eons.
Next up Earrings. I took the pair of ceramic beads from Lesley and hand painted some green spots on them. Then I made a pair of glass discs and rings to match.
and finally the piece I am most pleased with. This necklace uses the sari ribbon from Smitten beads, the bird and leaf from Blueberribeads and the last ceramic bead from Lesley. I used some of my Fibrewire in blue and threaded the sari silk around it then I made some cute bellflowers in a very pale lemon glass. I had some leaf connectors and I wired the bellflowers and some brass leafs onto each one and then wired these onto the Fibrewire.

Lovely designs Linda - you've really captured the spirit of spring in all of these! Thanks for joining us on this challenge :0)
ReplyDeleteVery spring-y designs! They're all lovely but I especially like the earrings - how neat that you added dots!
ReplyDeleteI just love your designs of this challenge! The last necklace with silk and fibre and sweet flowers is so cute and whispers springtime!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work Linda, I love the way you've taken our beads and made them your own, the extra patina and spots really bring them together.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining us in the challenge!
Stunning combinations - the flower clasp just sits lovely in the first design - perfect match. The use of the sari strip is novel.
ReplyDeletePretty spring colors. I like the way you created the vine with the sari silk for the bird to nest in. Thank you for sharing your spring fever! Enjoy the day. Erin
ReplyDeleteYour are really fortunate to be able to make matching beads. That is something I am still working on. Your necklaces are so pretty. I love the earrings that you made too. The colors are all wonderful. Well done!

ReplyDeleteGorgeous work, really love the first necklace but the second one is neat too.
ReplyDeleteStunning designs. I am totally in love with the first necklace though the second is incredible also.
ReplyDeleteI love the symmetry!
ReplyDeleteWhat's better then making your own matching lampwork = love them!
ReplyDeleteI love your pieces, especially the last necklace. It looks like a lovely garden itself!
ReplyDeleteSo excited to discover your beads! They are gorgeous. I created beaded beads for my blue and yellow mix, but you certainly knocked it all out of the park with your lampwork! Lovely. Your ceramic flower necklace is charming, and the details are awesome -- the patina bird & clasp are so pretty. Your last jewelry is outstanding! Gorgeous. Brilliant. Breath-taking! Love how you used the sari ribbon & I'm so excited to see new ways of working in the silk. The fiberwire is inspired in your design. Wow! x Rita
